The Beautiful Connection of Alchemy, Elements and Witchcraft

Rose Water Recipe: Self Love Elixir

Here’s my go-to recipe to uplift your mood and hydrate your skin! This is a topical recipe only—please don’t drink it. Whether or not you choose to charge the ingredients or involve a deity is entirely up to you.

1. Prepare the Roses:

Remove the petals from 10–12 red roses. Mine were on an altar for about a week; they still looked fresh but were beginning to wilt. Discard any dried or damaged petals, leaves, or debris.

2. Boil the Base:

Heat 4 cups of filtered water to a rolling boil in a pot.

3. Add Spices:

Smash 2 cinnamon sticks to release their fragrance, and gather 4 whole cloves (not powder). If you have dried lavender buds (I used 3 from my garden), include them as well. Speak affirmations or incantations into the spices if you wish, then add them to the boiling water. Let boil for 2 minutes.

4. Incorporate the Roses:

Add the rose petals to the boiling water. Boil for 1–2 minutes while focusing on your intention (optional: infuse the mixture with a protection or beauty spell).

5. Cool and Strain:

Turn off the heat and allow the mixture to cool. Strain out the petals and spices, leaving behind a rose-colored liquid.

6. Bottle and Store:

Transfer the liquid to a glass container with a lid and pour some into a spray bottle. (Optional: add a small amount of organic vegetable glycerin for extra hydration.) Mix well and store both containers in the fridge.

Use the spray liberally throughout the day for glowing skin. The result is hydrating and lightly fragranced without being overpowering. Enjoy!

Freezing Energy: Winter Spellwork Tips

As a practitioner—or whatever title resonates with you—remember your connection to the elements and the seasons. Winter is a time for rest, reflection, and transformation, but it’s also a powerful season for spellwork. Incorporate the cold and harshness into your practice—use ice, snow, and bitterness in banishing and hexing spells.

Yes, this is a left-hand path blog, and if baneful workings aren’t part of your practice, that’s perfectly fine. Just remember to approach others’ paths with respect, as these workings are vital and meaningful to many. Winter symbolizes death and introspection, preparing us to shed what no longer serves and step into the creative energy of the Spring Equinox—a time for renewal and growth.

Most people are familiar with freezer spells, but here’s a way to take it further: bury someone’s name, energy, or motivations in the ground to freeze them in place. Use biodegradable materials to avoid harming the earth. Write the person’s name on brown paper bag, bind it with black string (hemp is ideal), wrapping away from you, and recite your incantation as you bury it. Once the ground freezes, the spell is sealed.

This isn’t a beginner’s guide—I won’t share every detail because your craft should be uniquely yours. Always do divination and protection work beforehand, and cleanse thoroughly afterward. Make it your own, and practice with care.
